Libourne, January 12th 2010
In 1761, the world’s first veterinary school was founded in Lyon, France. 250 years later, Ceva Santé Animale is proud to help support this global initiative to celebrate the birth of our profession.
The Vet 2011 slogan – “Vet for health, Vet for Food, Vet for the planet!” summarises the critical role which the veterinary profession has to play in contributing to overall global health. The scientific work of the early pioneers of veterinary medicine, Bourgelat, Jenner, Virchow and Pasteur brought understanding to our knowledge of animal diseases and their implications for human health. Today, we are once more moving towards a holistic view of medicine and to help promote this shift Ceva will also be a sponsor of the 1st International One Health Congress, to be held in Melbourne, Australia during February.
Commenting on the Vet 2011 initiative, Dr. Marc Prikazsky, Ceva’s Chairman & CEO said:
“Ceva is committed to supporting events such as Vet 2011, which help bind together the veterinary profession. We must be proud of our scientific heritage but also look forward to the many challenges facing global health and consider how best we can have an impact in achieving better health for all”.
